Unlike any other resource on the market, this textbook explores a diverse array of Indigenous food systems from across Canada, including Anishinaabeg, Asatiwisipe, Cree, Métis, Migmag, and Tsartlip. So when the meanings and metaphors of these mantras are understood while listening or chanting, it can definitely help all those seekers towards their journey of (re)discovering permanent peace and bliss or the state of Moksha (self-liberation). While commonly used during the Abhisheka ceremony of many gods in Sanatana Dharma, this song of god is full of philosophy of life, understanding of origin of universe and finally understanding the own self - which is the mirror of great Self (Param Brahman) - or the great creator. The Purusha means the great creator (universal consciousness) or god himself and Suktam here may be interpreted as chanting the glories of that great creator. The great Seer (Sages who heard this eternal wisdom through divine inspiration) Rishi Narayana is credited for first 16 original mantras. It is also elaborated in Bhagavat Purana ((2.5-35, 2.6). For instance, the Shukla Yajurvdeda (Madhyandini branch of Vajasneyi Samhita) created six more mantras known as Uttanarayana Sukta. Vajasaneyi Samhita of the Shukla Yajur Veda (31.1-6), the Taittriya Aranyaka of the Krishna Yajur Vedam (3.12-13), the Sama Veda (6.4), and the Atharvana Veda (19.6), made some additions and modifications. As noted by Sunder (1995), various other branches of Vedas, i.e. Purush-sutka is the 90th hymn of 10th Mandala from Rigveda originally with 16 mantras.
